Guerlain Abeille Royale
I figured it was probably well overdue to talk about my all-time favorite skin product…
Guerlain Abeille Royale Youth Serum.
Per usual, Guerlain does not skimp on making the packaging absolutely gorgeous.
Notice the little bee on the top of the bottle? For those of you who don’t speak, or at least understand a little French, Abeille Royale (‘Royal Bee’) is nothing other than royal jelly, a concentrate made from honey, which has been long revered for it’s healing and reparative properties.
Here is what Guerlain has to say about the serum:
“Abeille Royale, the new anti-aging Youth Serum, employs the active power of bee products to repair wrinkles while lifting and firming skin. Through extensive research, Guerlain identified bee products as some of the world’s most effective natural healing substances, and created Abeille Royale’s key active ingredient: the Pure Royal Concentrate. This exclusive composition of Ouessant honey and French royal jelly stimulates the key mechanisms of the healing process within the skin to help continuously repair wrinkles caused by micro-tears. In just 16 hours, skin increases repairing efficiency on these micro-tears by more than 63%, boosting tissue firmness from the inside out. With continued use, benefits double in three months for a renewed complexion that is restructured from within. One depression of the dropper dispenses just the right amount to smooth over face, preparing the skin for its daily moisturizer.”
I cannot comment on the wrinkle correction, since I am not using this to rewind aging (preventative measures, however…), but what I can say is that this serum leaves your skin feeling -and more importantly- looking amazing.
To me, serum is the most vital portion of my skin care routine. I find that I can skip moisturizers, but without serum, my skin feels and looks parched, and lackluster.
I began using this serum about a year ago, to help improve pigment and redness (my bane) that remained from those lovely little hormonal flareups I tend to get every month, and I was amazed at the transformation that occurred in my skin, literally overnight.
I have been off of this for a good 9 months due to the fact that I had run out of it, and began using the Lancôme Génefique Youth Activating Concentrate I had won via Lancôme’s Twitter giveaway.
Génefique does work quite well, but I find that I have to be careful with it. It leaves a sticky residue on my skin, and if I use it too frequently, it tends to sensitize my skin to the point that I get tiny, angry red little bumps all over any of the areas where I had applied it. If I use about 3 times a week, and in very scant amounts, I found that I was able to avoid this reaction. But, still… what I really wanted was a moisturizer that I could use daily with no sensitivity issues (for reference, I have very sensitive, dry skin).
So, of course – I went back to my beloved Guerlian Abeille Royale Youth Serum. Something that I knew not only worked, but worked incredibly well.
I have absolutely no sensitivity issues with Abeille Royale, other than to the price… $141 a bottle for just 1 fl. oz., but it is worth every last penny. With Guerlain, I do believe that their prices are justified. The products live up to their price tag, at least as far as I am concerned.
Guerlain Abeille Royale Youth Serum can be purchased at Nordstom, which is where I purchased mine.
So, I would love to know… what is your favorite serum? Have you tried Abeille Royale? Do you think serums are necessary, or unnecessary? Let me know in the comments! ♥
Happy November, beauties!
