I ♥ Omorovicza
Awhile ago, I received an email from Omorovicza‘s PR asking if I would like to try out a few of their products – I was absolutely ecstatic to get this opportunity, because as most of you probably do not know, I am a 3rd generation American on my paternal side. My Great-Grandmother immigrated to the USA from Budapest, Hungary – the home and birthplace of Omorovicza skincare.
On my mother’s side, much of my family immigrated from France, and I have always had exceptionally good luck with French skincare. Not to say definitively that if you have French background, French skincare is going to be the answer to all of your problems (same goes for Eastern European, Middle Eastern, Asian, or any other form of skincare), but at the same time, I was curious to see how it would fare with my finicky, exceptionally dry, sensitive skin.
I was sent 3 different products for review:
“Gentle yet effective, this high-performance exfoliating cleanser swiftly removes complexion-dulling dead skin cells and impurities to reveal softer, smoother, more radiant skin. Providing both a physical and enzymatic peel, it balances the skin without stripping it of natural oils.”
“A quick spritz of this neroli and rose-scented face mist refreshes the skin and lifts the spirits… Purifying and hydrating, this toner was inspired by the Queen of Hungary Water, the world’s first recorded perfume, formulated for Queen Elisabeth of Hungary in the 14th century. Perfect for a midday pick-me-up or as a post-cleanse toner.”
“Ideal for sensitive skin, this anti-aging serum harnesses the potent properties of gold and other active ingredients to re-texture and repair skin, revealing a radiant, healthy and youthful-looking complexion.”
“This silky anti-ageing serum instantly soothes and firms the skin. An oil free formulation, it absorbs instantly whilst potent ingredients, led by anti-inflammatory gold, help to repair and re-texture the skin, revealing a radiant, healthy and youthful-looking complexion.”
First off, the packaging is absolutely beautiful; I am completely weak for good packaging – I love fancy bottles and pretty boxes in my medicine cabinet and on my dressing table… makes me feel oh-so-feminine!
A little background information on Omorovicza from their official site:
“The Omorovicza story begins over 2,000 years ago, when the healing properties of Hungary’s thermal waters were first discovered. In the 1800s the Omorovicza family built the beautiful Racz spa in the Hungarian capital of Budapest, on the site of a medieval healing spring. Two hundred years later, descendant Stephen de Heinrich de Omorovicza took his future wife Margaret to the baths in Budapest. Amazed at the transformation of their skin, they enlisted the help of a Nobel prize-winning laboratory to harness these healing waters into a pioneering new skincare range.”
“Although much is understood about the beneficial effects of thermal waters on bathers, harnessing the minerals in these waters into a skincare range presents a significant challenge. To stimulate the skin to heal and repair itself, minerals need to be absorbed by the deeper layers of the skin – but this first requires transforming them into a state that the body readily recognizes and absorbs. Working with the Nobel-prize winning Hungarian Laboratory of Dermatology (discoverers of Vitamin C), Stephen and Margaret created Hydro Mineral Transference™ – a pioneering, patented mineral delivery system at the heart of all Omorovicza products. Based on the ancient science of bio-fermentation, Hydro Mineral Transference™ captures minerals in their original form, reconfigures their molecular structure into a state that the body recognizes, then delivers them to the deepest levels of the skin where they will have the greatest effect. The results are nothing short of spectacular. At first touch, skin is soothed, moisturized and visibly rejuvenated. Over time, collagen and elastin production is boosted and vital moisture is locked in. Surface damage is repaired and skin is strengthened.”
“Hungary’s mineral-rich thermal waters have been prized for centuries. Here the earth’s crust is thinner, so waters gather more beneficial minerals as they journey to the surface. This, combined with an unusually high number of natural springs, has earned its capital Budapest the title of ‘International Spa City’…”
“Omorovicza products are powered by a potent blend of Hungary’s mineral-rich healing waters and our patented Hydro Mineral Transference™ delivery system. This is combined with the finest vitamins, essential oils and other natural ingredients from across the globe, from the bed of Lake Heviz to the peak of the Andes mountains.”
“Products are fragranced with natural scents crafted in Grasse, the heart of the perfume industry. Omorovicza uses high- performance, naturally derived alternatives to commonly used synthetics, ensuring the Omorovicza experience is one of total luxury and maximum efficacy. All products exclude the following ingredients and are never tested on animals.”

And a little bit about the founders of Omorovicza – Stephen and Margaret – can be read here.
Can I just say – I have never in my life used a product(s), woken up the next morning, looked at my complexion and verbally exclaimed “WOW!”, before using these three products…
The first things I wanted to try was the Gold Flash Firming Serum, as serum is the backbone of my entire skincare regimen – I love a good serum – and the Queen Of Hungary Mist, because to me, toners are essential when it comes to helping your skin properly absorb the serums and creams you apply.
I will stop right here and say, I never really considered the possibility of a mist being a key part of my skincare routine, but this mist is unlike anything else I have ever tried; it has a cooling, refreshing tingle when you spritz it on, and the most delightfully uplifting, energizing scent – this is my favorite product out of the three, hands down, and has since become my favorite part out of my entire skincare regimen. My skin is better from this product alone… and that’s really saying something.
As for the serum, the results the next morning were unmistakable – my skin was plump, moisturized, bright, rested looking, and overall, the best I had seen it look in a very long time. I struggle with keeping my complexion bright, and free of dullness – fair skin has many, many woes and banes, and mine are definitely tone and luminosity – but this helped so tremendously when used in conjunction with the Queen Of Hungary Mist.
Finally, the Gentle Buffing Cleanser! I also really, really love this product! I am a huge fan of chemical peels, and do bi-weekly 55% lactic acid peels as part of my skincare regimen, but in my opinion and for my skin type, I feel that this is an even better, less sensitizing option that can be used not just on a bi-weekly, but daily basis, to keep skin perfectly polished, and pristine – especially if you are a makeup wearer.
I use this product after I have cleansed my face with my Dior Gentle Foaming Cleanser with Velvet Peony Extract (which I also love – does not strip my skin!), and have patted my face mostly dry, as I feel like the buffing grains work a little better on skin that isn’t overly dampened.
It does a fantastic job of sloughing off all the dry skin flakes and patches that I seem to get periodically, and is really fantastic for prepping your skin for better product absorption.
When I am in a hurry, I also squeeze a bit of my Dior cleanser, and a pump of the Omorovicza Gentle Buffing Cleanser onto my Clarisonic PRO (I use the delicate brush head), and use it in that manner – which also works excellent.
I have made a good dent in all three products already, and I can certainly say, I will be re-purchasing all three of them. However, for someone wanting to try out the line to get a feel for it, I would say without a doubt, if you are only able to choose one, go for the Queen Of Hungary Mist. It’s a must-have, and won’t disappoint!
