I have been a long time Bobbi Brown fan, and after trying nearly every brand under the sun, this is the one I keep coming back to, over and over again.
My tried-and-true Bobbi Brown favorites
If you’ve never tried a Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick, you have been cheating yourself out of the very best one-step bronze + blush + highlight product on the market.
I was a diehard NARS Orgasm and Super Orgasm fan for years (and I still love them, but!) before testing out my first Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Pink Quartz.
I don’t like to dedicate a lot of time to adding color back to my face, so the whole three step process of adding blush, bronzer and highlighter has always been something I only do if I want a very heavy look (which if I’m being honest, is practically never).
When I saw the Limited Edition Highlight & Glow Shimmer Brick Palette, I instantly went and purchased it. I love the ease and flexibility of palettes, and this one comes with three beautiful bricks (Rose, Copper Diamond, & Apricot), so there is something to suit any look and skin tone. I find that I like to mix all three onto my brush, and apply.
Complexion perfectors
There is nothing I love more than a fresh, dewy complexion. One that has just the right amount of texture and glow.
I found my holy grail products, and I use them every single day.
I am kicking myself for not writing this post sooner, because my beloved Skin Foundation Cushion appears that it is being discontinued, as it is currently heavily discounted on the Bobbi Brown website and elsewhere. To say I am devastated would be an understatement. Crossing my fingers that it isn’t being permanently pulled, and advising you to go get yours right now! If your color is yet to be sold out (I wear shade Porcelain, and sometimes Extra Light), buy everything you can get your hands on (spent a good portion of my day doing exactly this).
Skin Foundation Cushion Compact is still available in select shades at Macy’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Cos Bar, Nordstrom, bluemercury, Bloomingdale’s, Bergdorf Goodman, and BobbiBrown.com.
I love this foundation because of how beautifully lightweight it is, not to mention sheer and buildable. As the name indicates, it really looks like you have nothing on but your bare, enhanced skin. It’s like a photoshop filter for your face. I don’t bother with primers or powders, because I have a dry skin type that loves moisture. I also suffer the occasional blemish, which I feel powders and heavy makeup only serve to enhance. This foundation sits beautifully on the skin, and maintains a glow that will keep you looking fresh and healthy all day long.
I don’t exercise much, but I have never found this foundation to sweat off. It will however, transfer onto clothing, but I am conscious of this, so it has never been a problem for me.
The beauty breakdown
My routine goes a little something like this:
- Wash + exfoliate + tone face
- Clarisonic Smart Profile Uplift + Herbivore Botanicals Orchid Youth Preserving Facial Oil lymphatic drainage massage
- Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum + Kypris Antioxidant Dew
- SPF (Tatcha Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen, Kypris Pot Of Shade, or Circ-Cell Daily Hydration)
- Skin Foundation Cushion Compact applied with the included compact sponge or beautyblender
- Intensive Skin Serum Concealer in Porcelain on blemishes
- Intensive Skin Serum Corrector in Porcelain Peach on dark circles, and around mouth
- Highlight & Glow Shimmer Brick Palette (all three bricks swirled together on a fluffy brush) on cheeks, across bridge of nose, and temples
- Lip balm (I love this one by Fresh) or a quick lining of the lips with Charlotte Tilbury’s Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk and a swipe of High Shimmer Lip Gloss.
The Love List
What I adore the most about all of these BB products (and my aforementioned skincare, for that matter), is that they do exactly what they are supposed to do. That’s not something you can often say about anything. But, Bobbi Brown does not disappoint!
The Concealer and Corrector are both beautifully lightweight and bendable. The pigmentation is also very good. I have found these to be ideal for me, even with hard to disguise blemishes.
Last but not least, Bobbi Brown makeup brushes! They are infamous. Every celebrity makeup artist you can think of has probably owned at least one in their lifetime. I adore mine. They have an effortless ability to blend powders seamlessly with even the most malleable liquid base, or whatever suits your fancy. If you buy only one (and many of the Best Sellers are currently 25% off!), I absolutely recommend this one.
