Ah, yes. The heels that made me want to die.
But simultaneously celebrate my life as a woman, because of how stunning they look adorning my feet. They make your legs look long and sleek in a way that is envied by all those who gaze upon them. You know the ones.
First of all, I would just like to get this out in the open (a declaration, I daresay) that the Christian Louboutin “So Kate” heels are quite literally, the most uncomfortable shoes to have ever been brought into existence.
Truly, a shoe so unbearable to wear for any meaningful duration of time, that only a man could have conceived of them.
Easy on, less easy (but a blessed relief!) off.
While I admire and agree with the sentiment that heels are sex, and “sex shouldn’t be comfy”, as emphatically declared in one of my favorite films, I also am of the belief that a shoe should above all, be wearable and walkable.
A gorgeous 120mm of stiletto heel, which creates truly, the most exquisite foot arc and toe cleavage you’ve ever seen, but will inevitably have you wondering ‘why G-d, did I spend $750 on these heels which I am now going to need to have surgically dissected from my foot?’ — or worse, you thought you were some kind of fashion crusader and decided to push through the searing pain and discomfort, and take a lovely afternoon walk across the famously unmaintained sidewalks of Chicago, inevitably going on to firmly wedge said $750 heel in a sawtooth-shaped crack, and thus peeling up the patent leather of your hideously uncomfortable, but devilishly sexy “So Kate” heels, rendering them now entirely hideous, and even more unwearable. Or maybe that’s just me.
Still, I say, anyone who does not find them to be the most unfathomably uncomfortable heels in their wardrobe is suffering from nerve damage or is a blatant liar. Convince me otherwise.
All that being said, it is fully in the thick of wedding season, so I have been cycling through my fair share of heels.
As a family wedding soon approaches, I am left debating what I can bear to keep on my feet while maintaining composure and feigned elegance, for a duration of what could be as many as eight hours…
The heels I have found myself finding to be the most bearable for the longest durations of time remain firmly between designers Jimmy Choo and Gucci. This may spark some debate, as apparently, many of you might strongly disagree with Jimmy Choo as a comfortable option.
Which brings me to this: what are your go-to brands for simultaneously beautiful, yet wearable heels? Leave me a comment or send a DM — I love a good suggestion.
